I think you're right about that.

These a pretty good Jimmy Stewart movie, Strategic Air Command, that has
a lot of shots of a dual AN/ARC-8 installation on a B-36.

I saw an AN/ARC-8 installation on a T-29 in which I was a passenger in
1971.  The T-29 was based at Blytheville (AR) AFB, and the T-29 was
being used as the base commander's utility aircraft.  The pilots said
they never used it the AN/ARC-8.  (The T-29 had a couple of AN/ARC-27
UHF sets.)

I think the USAF T.O. 12R2-2ART13-2 has the info you need.  Apparently
all the details are on one figure (Figure 8-43) in this AN/ART-13
manual.  I've been trying to locate a copy of that figure or the whole
T.O. for years.  Part of that T.O. is available on the internet (try
www.nj7P.com) but not Fig. 8-43.

Anybody got a reproducable copy of Fig. 8-43???
