For anyone interested, the PLRS system operates in the 420-450 MHz band
using spread spectrum technology.

I had the privilege of designing the antennas used in the manpack,
vehicular and airborne applications.

The radios were all the same in the various applications. However, the
data transmission rates were based on the application. For instance,
PLRS units in tactical jets was fast and it was slow in the manpack
configuration. The PLRS radio knew what type of platform it was
mounted in by reading a resistor in the antenna at turn-on.

Can't say much more.

Are the PLRS radios coming onto the surplus market?
