[Milsurplus] R-388 vs 51J4

Hi All,
I have  a bit of a dumb question, I say dumb because years ago I owned ea=
ch of these units and now can't remember the real differances between the=
m.  If memory is correct the 51J4 had 3 mechanical filters on a board and=
 the R-388 does not??  Well, I am sure one of you guys who knows this stu=
ff backward and forward will educate me.  I ask because I would like to o=
btain one of them again and want to buy the best one for general receivin=
g purposes.
