aHA! Thank you, Mike.
Rolynn sent me some shots of the back of his set and sure enough, there were the
two screws. The pictures clearly showed these screws in place, perhaps holding
something on the inside like a seal or gasket? I'd guess it was installed inside
and no left to protrude from the otherwise-smooth back of the cabinet. I had
thought there was some kind of a plate that went over the back after the connector
was in place, but the connector looks to be pretty much flush with the back of the
cabinet.
I did see what looked like a small, rectangular gasket or seal in one of the
manual pictures. Indeed, mine is missing in the good set as well as the modified
'parts' unit. They probably make the stock dynamotor look common in comparison,
too.
It doesn't look like it would be too much of a job to fabricate a replacement,
though. Perhaps a small aluminum frame to mount onto the cabinet and affix the
seal to, then it's only a matter of making a gasket that seals tight to the
connector? Probably not something I'll get to immediately.
Thanks to all for the suggestions, ideas, and other help. Never a day goes by that
I don't learn something on here.
