PAB-1. Made by Western Electric. We have three sets of reproducers
(speakers) from Beachmasters on top of our University Admin. Building for
our campus PA system. If you are inside the Admin building trying to use
the system, it feeds back through the roof something awful. Use to have one
of the amps, but it was removed several years ago. Had to replace the
phenolic diaphragms in the speakers a few years back, Altec still has them
in stock. Amp alone weighed 180 lbs. in the waterproof carry case. Used a
pair of 805's for the audio output tubes and put out about 250 watts. I've
seen one in the flesh and it is a huge beast. Has an internal blower for
cooling and a tuning eye for setting the volume.
