Simply put, the RS-38 was the standard microphone for all Navy aircraft,
the T-17 the AAC/AAF choice of weapons.  So if you were on a Navy
aircraft you would *almost* never see a T-17, and the same was true with
respect to the RS-38 and Army aircraft.  I can't tell you how that
translated into RS-38 usage aboard Navy ships, though.  There are
specialized mike holders made for both the T-17 and RS-38 - two versions
for the latter, though one can scratch the outer diameter with use if
you don't have the dimensions carefully set for a loose fit.  

I'm a little puzzled by your reference to the interphone amp being
cabled to the LM-10 frequency meter, though.  Could you elaborate a
little on that?
