Before you go to the trouble, give Fair Radio a call.  I got a pair of rack
mount ears from them a couple of years ago -- about $8 I think.  But be sure
to describe them completely or you'll wind up with the verticals for the
shock mount.  The original ears are fairly short -- not the full depth of
the R-1051 case.  Just L-shaped pieces of thick aluminum drilled for the
holes in the sides of the case.
