I've got to stop trusting my obviously defective memory.  I messed up
twice in the above statement.  Marty's post got me to looking at my old
ARC-3 and ARC-5 VHF stuff last night, and they too have alpha designated
channels (the AN/ARC-3 has channels A through H).

So, only the AN/ARC-1 and AN/ARC-4 have numerically marked channels.
