Hi, Mike,
Nice to hear about your interest in the BC-191/375 Transmitter.
I used one in the Army Signal corps in WW II. I really liked it. It has a lot
of character. Yes, you can make it chirp, but I don't remember that being a
big problem when operating according to he manual.
I only have one tuning unit, TU-8-B, for which I am trying to find a BC-191
to mate it with.
I am trying to put together an SCR-399/499. So far I have the BC-610E
transmitter, BC-342 receiver, BC-312 receiver (and also as an added bonus, a
BC-344-D, 150 to 1500 KCS). I have the BC-614 speech amp and a pair of LS-3
Loudspeakers. Two pieces of equipment need to be replaced, if I can ever find
the correct units. The BC-939 B ant tuning unit (should be an "A"; and, I
couldn't find a JB-70 junction box, but I do have a C1218/GR which is very
close.)
So, put that BC-191 on the air. Looks of good advice on this list. You will
no doubt enjoy it very much. The thing I like about it is the 160 mtr
capability.
Do you have that old antenna tuning unit with the Variometer in it? That's a
corker!
Please let us all know how you make out with it.
