This handset shown is an HCRD. However, it will only work with a new
and current issue ASIP SINCGAR radio. This handset is current issue to
only a few units in the Army. The handset allows you to change volume,
power, mode-such as Single Channel Plain Text or Cipher Text, Frequency
Hop, Frequency Hop Master. It also allows you to change channels. It
is a considerable power drain on the radio with the handset light on.
The particular handset on Ebay looks as if the PTT button is missing.
If you can view the pic on Ebay, the connector attached to the radio
will connect to the top of the SINCGAR and will allow the mic to perform
it's basic function only. The second elbow connector will attach to
either the bottom of the ASIP SINCGAR or to a vehicular radio mount.
Currently, these mics are hard to replace in the military system. They
cost the government about $300 apiece, and the display is the first to
go.
I am an artillery forward observer and used this handset with the ASIP
from 1999-2001 in the 82nd Airborne Division, and from 2001 to present
in the NC National Guard.

Its a HRCD (handheld remote control device) for SINCGARS. The other plug
goes to version D battery box. The operator can change vol and channels
through the handset. I will be getting a few myself soon.
