At last, I can contribute.  The CU-1099 was used in the AN/FRD-10(V) as a
distribution multicoupler.  After the fixed beams were formed, each
output was fed to a CU-1099, and the 8 outputs went to 8 switches,
allowing up to 8 users to select the same beam.  Also used elsewhere in
the system where a signal had to be split up.  Primary multicouplers
which were connected directly to the antenna elements were a different
number which I don't have at hand at the moment.  The last 1099s I saw in
service were at NSGA Homestead Fla. in 1989.  Replaced by "Enlarger"
matrix switch array (for which I have a AN/ number somewhere) in the
early 90s.
