at the last swapmeet i met an elderly gentleman who was selling off a
goodly amount of surplus equipment; by the time i had gotten around to
him some of the more prized items had been sold off; i was intriqued tho
w/ four new in the box TU units - not being a milsurplus RKI, but do
read all the posts and learn some interesting facts here, i realized
they were probably not very sought after, but after talking to the man
for some time, i did buy three of the units: TU-5-B, TU-9-B & TU-10-B
(1500kc-3000kc/7700kc-10000kc/10000kc-12500kc), all brand new in the
original boxes (but the original GE tags did not match the respective
units ie: one box had TU-7-B, another TU-8-B, the last the tag had been
removed); i had the feeling the units were possibly headed to the dump
if no one purchased them, and being a sap for old items NIB i bought
the three, leaving him the fourth. i did buy at a reasonable nice price
but the intriguing part was that after spending some time w/ the gentle-
man he told me he would bring some NIB dynamotors, manuals, other equip-
ment, etc next time.
my question being: what would the items sell for? i realize the freqs
covered probably aren't very desirable (i remember a discussion here a
short time ago about some of the lower freq'd TU's being much more de-
sirable), just wondering what these items in this condition typically
sell for, either on-list, or on the "unmentionable" auction site?
does Fair radio sales still sell these units? i don't see them listed
on their site.
