In 1946 in USAF Communications in Berlin I had hands-on experience with
the home-made AC power supply for the BC-348. A transformer, choke,
capacitor and a rectifier tube would be mounted on a small piece of metal
that would fit where the dynamotor would go. The parts came from a Wilcox
"Tone Keyer" which was part of the CS-390 transmitter/receiver control
equipment which was used with the 96-C and T-4 transmitters. Often a
ventilation hole would be made in the BC-348 and covered with screen.
I never saw a BC-348 used in an airplane. BC-342's were there. The BC-348
was found in the GRC-26 until the Collins came along.
