1736z 10 Feb 25

11175.0 was active at 0023z with OUTNUMBER broadcasting their daily
post-0000z communications test count.

1504z GILD 46 (E6B) launched ex TINKER.

1515z BIRD TRAP called and raised FORT POLK (NCS HFGCS) to enter the net.

1518z BIRD TRAP called and raised OUTNUMBER (good levels; distinctive
audio).

OUTNUMBER, OUTNUMBER, this is BIRD TRAP, break.
Message of 3 groups follows.
SQH EQV ABK
time 18; I authenticate BL.
I say again.
SQH EQV ABK
this is BIRD TRAP out. and quiet.

1556z BIRD TRAP called GLASS BOWL. No known response.

OUTNUMBER was immediately responsive to BIRD TRAP's call.
"ABK" remains "active" as a final group.
Perhaps these messages are a way of stating to the CPs "I'm here; here's my
esignature" or equivalent??

As for FORT POLK.

FORT POLK (a famous real place in Louisian) became FORT JOHNSON 23 Jun
2023. Someone put FORT POLK into the AFKA-1 callword list "recently." (Are
there callword examples of "FORT POLK" earlier than 2023 other than UHF
local area activity?)

Being familiar with the place, I laugh everytime I hear it. I also find its
use interesting.

Jeff.
