There is no wide-band omni0directional antenna that will do this better 
than some version of a discone--if there was, many of us would have one 
rather than a discone.  If you only listen to certain bands there are 
antennas that will do better than a discone or combination of discones. 
Are you only wanting to do this for certain bands?
