Interesting freq 279.725 MHz. My only USAF assignment is an AETC Interplane
for aircraft based at Columbus AFB MS. Definitely the first time I have seen
an AWACS on this one. Maybe your Yeager flight was out of Columbus and that
is why they were using this one. I didn't have any Columbus aircraft Mode-S
intercepts yesterday afternoon so they were probably out of my box range
(out to 150nm plus to the west - south).
Only E-3 I had yesterday afternoon before the storms hit is listed below
shortly before 4pm.

Dead on his heals was an E-4

And right after that

Also had a Peach E-8 right after the Tacamo.

The skies over Btown were busy yesterday. ;-))) For what it is worth I've
posted my complete Mode-S logs up on the Milcom blog (address below).

Subject: [MilCom] GOLIATH in Southeast
519PM Local:
Currently hearing GOLIATH working on 279.725with YEAGER flight and 236.7
(Atlanta Center at Crossville). I have never heard AWACS use 236.7 as a
discrete. 279.725 is very strong at about s-7 and the comms on 236.7 are
very weak and not moving the S meter. Anyone else hearing this can add to
what I am hearing? Possibly two separate AWACS?
