I went to the Uniden open house and played with one for a while and can 
answer a few questions.

 > I'm just hoping the scan rate is faster than my 996T.

It appears to scan as fast as a 396T, but this was only judging by how 
fast the system names change on the display.


 > on that scanner where is the search. how do you look for freq's for
 > milcom and fedcom.

Not sure. Probably in a menu somewhere. I think it also had a service 
search for air and milair.


 >Just one question:  how long is that antenna jack going to last with 
 >it hanging off to the side like that?

It was much heavier than my 396T and appeard to be well constructed.
It had a SMA connector but I didn't wiggle it or try to break it off. 
How long do antenna jacks last hanging off the top or back of any other 
radio? I have never had a problem with one.
