I would agree that some people may start listening to milcoms
 that may not normally do so if they purchase this radio. However, I don't believe that these people will want to put forth the effort to learn the vocabulary, or spend countless hours looking for new frequencies.

I'm sure this scanner will "dumb down" the hobby even more.  Lets face it on 
the milcom/milair monitoring side the folks are much smarter than the 
average scannerland police wanna bees, ambulance chasing, or fire bug 
photographers.   Now if you give them a scanner so simplistic that they just 
have to turn it on and can even monitor milcom & milair, I'm sure we can 
expect to see some really challenged individuals entering this 
(milcom/milair) aspect of the monitoring hobby.  Hopefully the milcom/milair 
data base side will be lame and they will stay on the public safety side !!!

Of course any bets that the updated data base will be for sale on the Uniden 
site?!

Can't wait to buy one!!! ;) )
