John's death was a surprise, as it came so suddenly after being diagnosed.
He had sent me an email just days before he died. I received an email from
his daughter on Sunday, advising of his passing.

Like Allan stated, John was indeed one of the good guys. We were good
friends for about 30 years. We first met on-line, and later in person at
the Dayton Hamvention. He had been a guest in my home on later visits to
Ohio. He co-authored one of my books, lending valuable knowledge and
assistance. I still have the blue waist-length personalized Air Force One
jackets he managed go get me through his contacts with the President's staff
and folks at the 89th at Andrews.

John was a friend to many, enemy to none, and he will be missed.
