[MilCom] WAS KC-45 Bases; now F-117

The F-22 does have air to ground attack capability.
One of it's first tests after being assigned to
Langley's 1st FW was to fly non-stop via air refueling
and to drop some precision guided bombs at Hill AFB
prior to landing. It was to demonstrate the
aircraft's ability to fly long distances and deliver
ordinance and the mission was a success. It is a true
stealth fighter so to speak. I think designating the
Nighthawk as a fighter was kind of a misnomer since
a/a wasn't in it's mission profile. I guess F-117
sounded better than A-117.
Whether the Raptor will "replace" the F-117 in that
type of capability is yet to be seen. But it is more
than capable of air to ground stikes using only
internal weapons. It think in the original post, at
least i took it as the F-22A is replacing the F-117 at
that base (Holloman AFB). And that's true. The F-22A
is the next operational fighter based at Holloman AFB.
I just can't believe the F-117 is out the door. I
only got to see it like two or three times.
On a side note: My FIRST EVER milair reception on UHF
courtesy of the legendary Pro-43 in 1995 was an air
refueling with a tanker, of course, on AR-203 (238.9)
and the reciever was? You guessed it STEALTH 91
(F-117A) coming off an airshow flyby in West
Tennessee.
