The pilot is fine, he was found by a farmer who drove up in his "emergency"
pickup truck (pretty simple Joe citizen fast response!!!!) & later reported
to local news that the pilot was a little pale & shaken up & landed fairly
close to the wreckage BUT was otherwise fine. The pilot had 15+ years of
flying experience, BUT I'd assume this was his first ejection out of an
aircraft.
Not a flame, BUT isn't it the purpose of this group to monitor military
radio comms??? You know as well as I do in our neck of the woods when the
A10's run into problems there's air/air comms between the planes and also
usually the wing man reports back to the command post, or at times the
aircraft with the mechanical problem talks directly with the SOF/command
post for some technical assistance.
Gee I would think that IF someone had a video and/or still camera and was
monitoring the appropriate frequencies and was able to get some shots that
would be very exciting --- to post to YouTube or other venues -- that's why
I carry my camera with me all the time!!! (and as a side note sometimes
still pictures & videos can be important to post crash investigation
assistance).
Fortunately, the area the aircraft crashed in was rural and no one was
injuried on the ground....
BTW those close enough "electronically" might want to try monitoring for the
appropriate ground operations frequencies. Would be interested if they are
running encrypted with "Hammer Ace" support or just typical base support....
