[MilCom] 143.95 Data Transmissions -- MARS?

I've noted what appears to be data transmissions in the vicinity of Westover 
JARB, (Chicopee) MA as well as approx 15 miles east at my work locations 
(Palmer MA).  Both areas had an S4 signal strength which leads me to believe 
that these are digi repeaters e.g. one on Mt Tom (Holyoke) and the other on 
Bald Peak (Monson/Palmer)...

Grove's "Military Frequency Directory" 2nd edition indicates that this 
frequency is used by the Air Force Military Affiliated Radio System (MARS).

Wondering if this is possibly a nationwide digital designation for AF MARS & 
also does anyone know if they use a common digital transmission method that 
can be monitored by hobbyists?
