The "Monitoring Times" magazine March 2007 edition provides some extensive
information on the upcoming airshow season:

First there's Larry Van Horn's annual guide 4 pages packed with lots of
potential frequencies for just about every military & civilian aerobatic
team on the airshow circuit.

Next there's an article on "Andrews Air Show, 'Best of the Best", which has
some interviews short stories with "The Photographer" (always seen but not
heard!!! :) ), "The Expert", & "The First Timer"... Many of you may not
know this but the "First Timer" and "Scanner Dan" are both the wagon guys
who for many years had wagon fulls of mobile/portable radio gear, large
battery pack, antennas & speakers. Read Dan's comments regarding the
chilling affect after "9/11" and how he adapted to the restrictions. Very
interesting reading.

Finally there's Larry's monthly "Milcom" column which covers equipment & the
major show schedules. The radio equipment lists all new equipment and
doesn't cover the potential used equipment that is less expensive and will
still allow you to monitor both the VHF/UHF aero comms. Perhaps we can
start a separate list again of all the milcom capable scanners.

BTW for those of you that are interested in ALL airshows (including the
smaller ones that don't have the prime performers) being held around the
world (including US & Canada), check out the "International Council of
Airshows" http://www.airshows.org/ click on the "Events" tab. This is
always a good site to check back into at least once a month.

Finally, I would hope that ALL of the airshow organizers & PAO's will make a
better effort this year to have static displays open cockpit or at least
have elevated stairs so one can look into the fighter type aircraft & have
larger aircraft also open to the public. The trend has been that more
aircraft are closed and only visible from ground level.
