Hello Don:
You are being a real rebel on the group!!! :) ;) Those US Army
abbreviations are difficult to sort out.
Probably a good place to start would be the US Army organization page:
http://www.army.mil/institution/organization/
http://www.army.mil/organization/unitdiagram.html
which explains the organization.
Since the unit may be part of the NY Army National Guard I would check it
out here
http://www.dmna.state.ny.us/arng/nyarng.php
Now the challenge is which "Company" level unit flys which helicopter (by
tail #)!!! since there's 3 companies in Latham NY and 1 company in
Ronkonkoma NY. There's also some aviation units in Rochester!!!
Hmm a nice article on actual army aviation units, locations, & frequencies
utilized, would seem to be a great help to hobbyists from either "Monitoring
Times" or "Popular Communications" milcom related columnists!!!
