The frequency 276.8 (which I have in my files as a JSTAR
common) does indeed seem to have another usage here
in the North & Central Texas area. A fellow milcommer
from Ft. Worth (thanks Brian Scott!) told me he had heard
operations that sounded like ACM in the Hood MOA
(R-6302). This appears to be the case, as today I am
listening to COWBOY flight out of FWNASJRB setting
up laser targeting in the "deep impact" area with
an unidentified unit using callsign of HORSEMAN. Comms
are moderate to weak at my location. The only "deep impact"
and "crater" bombing areas that I know of around this area
are at Ft. Hood, and a look at Google Earth will show the
numerous craters from tank firings, etc. This frequency may
also be used at the Shoal Creek Bombing Range, which is
a multi-use range on the north side of the Hood complex.

Perhaps a milcommer closer to Austin, Waco, or Kileen
can give a better confirmation, or might possibly be able to
hear a ground unit.
