[MilCom] Monitoring & "Body of Secrets"

I didn't read "Deep Black" but I did read the submarine book (and frankly -
I'm like you - don't remember the name). And, while it seems like
equivocating, I can't comment in detail. I do tend to take ALL of those
types of books with a grain of salt but in light of what I do know and did
have access to. Many of them are a lot of open source material that is spun
together.
While I can not directly comment as to the authors past (I can on Bam ford's
because I know what his rate was and what they had access to and what they
did on a routine basis I do put it in light of WHY would they write "true
secrets". Bottom line of the ramble is that there are pieces of the story
that ring true to my experiences and pieces that could very well be
stretches.
By the way - my position and feelings about BAMFORD are that I NEVER saw an
admin person on my ops floor taking an interest in what was actually
happening - either in the field or elsewhere!) However, he wrote enough
innuendo that had a basis in fact that the agency had everyone (including
the military) sign non-publication agreements. Take that for what its worth
as offered. A lot of his thread tying was blatant falsehood and others ....
Well I don't like the guy. Nuff said.

Don, I'm curious - what's your opinion of "Deep Black" and whatever-the-heck
the name of that book about our "spy-submarine" adventures was... ????
