That's a real stretch to fly from MS to NY, especially for slow flying
helicopters!!!! I think I was hearing some of the same banter, so my guess
is the typical airliners, commuter airlines, etc. and NOT military aircraft.
Usually informal chit chat is conducted on the normal military tactical
air/air freqs. They don't go out of their way to use 123.45. I've noted
over the last 3 or 4 days that there's been a lot more fooling around on
123.45, by I think one specific pilot/copilot.....
I would think that you would have picked up some activity on the typical ATC
freqs in the Long Island area, with that specific callsign.
