Negative. It was my opinion early on that this WAS another training
exercise. They had been up that AM doing training TOI (Target Of
Interest) intercepts with NORAD (HUNTRESS). Tues. they had two
different flights that did the same. It is a "regular" part of their
(115th FW Madison) training, that goes on here all the time.
It is also about the most boring thing in the world to listen to,
after a while. Calling in aircraft type and tail numbers of F-16s.
I would 've know better right away, but 99% of the time I can't hear
HUNTRESS, so I'm only getting part of the picture. I thought that an
"exercise aircraft" had been sent into our area, again.
Like a few months ago, when a military bus. type jet was sent through
our airspace, and they were sent to intercept. There were 2 pilots.
The one working ATC, and the other one working the CAP fighters. He
was "off course, dizzy, lightheaded, not feeling well", etc. (This guy
put on quite the performance!). They escorted him to the nearest
airfield.
The other reason I was suspect, was because the 2 most recent times I
heard them do a REAL intercept on a CAP mission, one WINDY CITY and
the other a recent POTUS visit to Milwaukee, BOTH times they "Pushed
UNIFORM SECURE". All of this Fri. I heard was in the clear.
