A staff member at Westover's PAO has developed a website:
http://www.westoveryesterday.com/index.html
He's got lots of information/pictures about the base from it's SAC days, Air
Force Reserve
both as tenants/host command, as well as the fighter unit that was station
here. So far
nothings listed for it's earilerl MATS days.
He's even got a list of aircraft serial #'s for B52's stationed at the base.
So take a look at the website & also if you have any information to
contribute.
Today, KCEF's aero frequencies include:
Air/Ground, Safety "Bean Bag DZ": 301.4
Approach/Departure Control (KBDL): 125.35/325.8
ATIS: 114.0/138.10
Base Operations: 372.2
Command Post "Casino Royale": 252.1
Ground Control: 118.35/275.8
Metro/Wx: 274.75
Tower: 134.85/348.75
BTW I have to wonder what frequencies were being used in 1940's, 1950's,
1960's, 1970's, &
early 1980's... Perhaps this would be a good research project.
Additionally if I remember correctly the callsign "ROD" use to below the the
KC135 Air Refueling Squadron
at the base & was kept as the static callsign for C5's.
