Hi All; I too must add that I like my Pro 97 - and just checked the bnc
connector and found it is loose! It's easy to fix - remove the battery cover
and battery case. Take out the four screws that hold the two halves
together. Gently wiggle the two halves apart. You can either 1= unsolder the
ground flange at the top corner of the board to get a wrench on; or 2= I
just took a small straight edge screwdriver and with a small hammer, tapped
the nut until it was snug. Try wiggling the bnc where the antenna attaches -
you have it tight enough when you can't wiggle the bnc with moderate force.
Be careful when realigning the top of the halves together - there is a
groove where the halves go together.
While I'm on the subject of the Pro 97 - I wasn't happy that the audio is
limited at the 1/8th speaker jack when using a lapel speaker. I soldered a
small wire to the bnc flange(ground),mentioned above and ran it around to
one of 3 solder pods that match up with the speaker jack. You'll have to
take the screws out of the circuit board and gently pull it away to solder
on the underside. Now I have full audio out the speaker jack - I also did a
similar job on the Pro 83 which also has the audio limited at the 1/8
speaker jack.
Logs:
2/26 4372 USB 0800z 7NP / any station r/c; no joy.
3/4 4372 USB 0420z 7EC / OBP / 8BP in net. OBP sure sounded like a
sub; a few years ago I heard a sub on 2182 USB during a sar - the operator
sounds like he's in a big empty drum.
Several times this past week I heard Hustler 408 (CH53 helo) working the
pattern at Reading Regional on 125.15 / 257.9 app/dep & 119.9 / 288.3 tower.
