Just an update.. Apparently news sources are now saying that there was
"deception" and other security methods employed for this top secrect visit.
Iraq officials were only told when the president was only 5 minutes from
landing (it's unclear whether the 5 minutes were from the helo landing or
aircraft landing at the airport, but a good guess is it was the helo
landing) . The NBC news video only shows him in a helicopter (unclear as
to whether it's a CH47 or CH53) but their was a machine gunner in the back
door that was partially opened. I would imagine that it was an in country
asset with no special markings.
What I find interesting is at least what's shown publically, the insurgents
don't appear to have any radio scanners in their possession when found, BUT
it difficult to believe that they don't have access to this technology.
I would guess that much of the Iraq area military aero radio transmissions
are now also encrypted!
