Duane & the group!

Military bases & civilian airports have extended their surveillance reach
with "security force mulitpliers" called surveillance cameras resulting in
very significantly improving perimeter security to identify any ground based
threats. The newly installed cameras as well as "other" sensors are very
sophisticated technical marvels, that allow covert/long range surveillance
of anyone who approaches a security zone in any type of weather condition,
generally a security perimeter fence line (but sensors may be placed
elsewhere). My assumption is that the vast majority of "on scene" milcom
radio monitoring hobbyists are well known to military/civilian federal
investigative agencies (e.g. AFOSI, NCIS, CID, FBI, etc.) as well as local
military base/civilian airport security officials. Personally I'd like to
see some sort of authorization procedure/official parking area set up for
hobbyists to enjoy this "on scene" aspect of the hobby. I would even be
willing to pay an annual/monthly investigation/access fee for this type of
"on scene" no hassle parking access to enjoy this aspect of the hobby!

I think the problem is that when you get someone next to the
perimeter/security fence line than of course the security camera & security
surveillance center/dispatcher (aka "Central Security Control") is going to
have to concentrate on that potential/perceived threat. This can be
somewhat tiring to them so the policy has been to remove anyone next to a
security perimeter fence line so that security can concentrate on "other"
matters.

As far as USAF's "Eagle Eyes" program (and other similar military &
civilian programs), goes I suspect that the majority of the reports filed
are good intentioned BUT probably cause a lot of wasted investigative effort
& inputing of a lot of information into data bases, etc.

We as milcom hobbyists should concentrate on having fun in the hobby -- let
trained security people worry about security! If there's "on scene" hassle
free parking areas, then we should maximize our use of those areas.
Hobbyists need to be less paranoid about the entire 'on scene' aspect of the
hobby & with the new year concentrate on having "fun" & adding some
"excitement" to their milcom hobby monitoring! "On Scene" is awesome!!!
