Joe; It's my understanding that they have 2 radios, Comm 1 & Comm 2. When
either the solos, diamond, or delta group comes in front of the crowd, they
have been switching to 284.25 for what I call the "show box". Upon exiting
the "show box", they switch back to their respective freq; 275.35
diamond/delta; and depending on which solo freq they are using. You actually
only have to listen to the "show box" freq to hear the "contact" and "clear"
calls in front of the crowd. I usually use 3 radios; one for the "show box";
one for the diamond/solos; and one for the new VHF ground crews. So, for the
"show box" Comm 1 radio may be on 284.25; and Comm 2 radio for the diamond
is 275.35; while Comm 2 radio for the solos will be 264.55 or whatever the
solos use for that particular show. Hope this helps - it took us awhile to
firgure it out too.
