[MilCom] Under Extreme Lift Conditions

A few years ago, 2000 - 20001, I regularly monitored VHF signals between
30 - 50 MHz originating from the East Coast of the US.  I was in the
mountains on the east border of California.  Police, Medical, FM broadcast
links, all near full scale on an IC-706 MKII, crystal clear with no more
than a 1/4 wave whip.  It isn't uncommon, I had done it int he late eighties
as well.  I imagine hearing things across the pond would be much more easy,
less continent to get in the way.
