Hello Bill & the group:
Hmmm..
Nothing controversial to me.. Basically just looked at the pictures
referenced by
Steve & stated what MY monitoring experience has been - I'm sure others have
different experiences.
BTW this entire subject came up because of what was published in a nation
wide
hobby magazine.. Frankly I'm not at war with Steve D/Pop'Comm nor am I
trying to push any special agenda that is favorable to anyone.
With close to 1000 people on this list perhaps others
could state what their experience is with this.. Might find that the
designators
are actually used over a much wider area/flying unit(s) specific than
portrayed by
Larry VH in "Monitoring Times" magazine who's experience shows that these
designators aren't commonly used.
Hobbyists on this list who read these posts & also buy the various national
distributed communications hobby magazines will have to judge for themselves
what's the pros & cons of each magazine is.. Surely PC & MT meet a
need because they've been around for 20+ years!!!! However, again I do
think at this point in time that "Monitoring Times" magazine provides the
most factual information
in the milcom/milair subject area that hobbyist can "readily use" to further
their enjoyment of the hobby!
Also this list tends to get boring at times. Basically the same people
posting
the same information.. Sometimes the list needs a little controversy... I'm
amazed at some of the folks who "surface" every time there's
a controversy that erupts!! Too bad most of them won't take the time
to at least post some of their monitoring results/loggings on a monthly
summary basis to this list.
You can't please everyone all of the time! Especially on this list!
Ken
