That call sign brings back memories of the Vulcan bomber in service with the
RAF until just after the Falklands war - bombing the Falklands runway and a
few other missions to that island were the only offensive missions that the
fleet undertook. Impressive aircraft in the air, visually and audibly.

In my teens we lived near the factory that made them, and although I
listened on VHF (BC-624-A / RAF R-5019 much modified with VFO replacing the
crystals plus 2nd IF with squelch), I never knowingly caught them in the
air.
