Space shuttle Discovery's trip back home delayed
  posted: 08-19-2005

The space shuttle Discovery will stay in the Ark-La-Tex a little longer than planned. Barksdale officials tell KTBS 3 News that because of the weather, the shuttle will leave for Cape Canaveral, Fla. Sunday at approximately 6:25 a.m.

Discovery rode atop a modified Boeing 747, and arrived at Barksdale about 5:20 p.m. Friday. The shuttle and the 747 left Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., Friday morning. Barksdale was among several refueling stops. Friday's flight comes more a week after discovery landed at Edwards Air Force Base to become the first space shuttle to return to earth since the Columbia tragedy. The landing was diverted to California after low clouds and lightning prevented the shuttle from returning to Florida on four earlier attempts.
