Hello Mac & the group:

Has anyone been close enough to see what radios the actual Marines on the
ground are using? My understanding is
the USMC is going to a new spread spectrum radio in the 2.4 ghz + area,
duplex capable with a small repeater close by. I know initally they were
using the government FRS radios (14 channels) but I think this new system
has 256 channel capabilitiy, etc... See
http://www.swatheadsets.com/PDFs/PRR_article.pdf

There also were some others I saw for Fire Department use that actual had
the capability to plug into a higher power tactical portable/mobile radio
so that the "on scene" folks could coordinate with others at a greater
distance...

Ken
