[OBSERVATIONS]
The weather on Saturday was lousy with an unforecasted low ceiling that kept
everything grounded until 1245pm. Sunday was perfect with clear blue skies
and temps near 80.
There were 100% vehicle searches each day. On Saturday they went thru
everything, on Sunday they used the dogs to search the vehicles along with
spot checks. This was in addition to the searches conducted as you went thru
the metal detectors at the entrances to the ramp.
The throttle boot cover on HC-130 #64-14852 was from #65-0986.
The AC-130 had a skull & crossbones painted on the #1 prop and a silhouette
of John Wayne painted on the #2 prop (thanks to Barry W. for pointing this
out and for his assistance with finding freqs)
There were little green feet on many of the static aircraft. I also saw an
airman with green feet at the Family Pizza restaurant across from the main
gate on Friday. I found out what this signifies but I'm curious if anybody
else knows?
The QF-4E arrived for the show on Saturday, remained overnight, then
departed after the Heritage Flight on Sunday. He is UHF capable.
I thought I heard the B-1B say he was headed to the NAS Corpus Christi air
show after the fly by at Moody.
Looking at the ACC schedule it looks like this same Heritage Flight crew
will be at the Shaw AFB air show on 23 April (which I plan to attend).
Patty Wagstaff did not perform due to an injury.

Overall this was a very good show. To see the Phantom flying again was my
biggest thrill (the last time I saw one was at Dayton in the mid 90's). The
only negative was the forecast of partly cloudy skies on Saturday that
turned out to be a solid overcast at 1000 feet! However there were plenty of
static displays to keep everyone occupied until the clouds began to break
up. I salute the men and women of Moody AFB for a job well done!
