Military equipment is not suceptible to birdies like cheap civilian systems
Different types of receiver techniques are used
Even using full duplex as do the Northstar Network uses the frequencies are
chosen for the purpose of transmit and receive frequencies allowing for a
full duplex mode with 1,000 watt transmit power and ultimum receiver
sensitivity
Some of the discrete freqs fall within the Glide Slope channels
The new 380-399.9 nfm Base Radio System which is narrow band 12.5khz steps
is also within the same area as the Intraserive Radio System with is the FRS
of the DOD.
Some holes are areas in which no one has monitored a transmission or freqs
used on a standby basis
Even though the FAA uses some freqs in the UHF Mil 225-400mhz region, their
assignment is made through the MAG or the Military Assignment Group
Read the NTIA Redbook for more info
http://www.ntia.doc.gov/osmhome/redbook/redbook.html
The Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File is another area to download
and read manuals and databases
https://164.214.2.62/products/digitalaero/index.cfm
DISA's JITC is the test facility for the JTRS http://jitc.fhu.disa.mil/jtrs/
Under http://jitc.fhu.disa.mil/jtrs/#Test%20Capabilities you can dowload the
manuals for the respective waveforms test procedures
To see what the FAA is doing with Spectrum Planning

With some research online, you can fill alot of the HOLES in the UHF
spectrum
