This would not be too surprising - over the years the Grissom
Tankers very frequently ran a straight line route which at
One time was AR16 that started about the IN/IL state line and
Went WSW across Illinois and into Missouri. Not sure what the
Status of the Grissom runway work is (wonder if they are also
Digging up that radioactive B58 - interesting story if you
Don't know it. Back when the 305th Bomb Wing was the resident
SAC unit on Nuclear Alert, a B58 Hustler bomber suffered a
Landing gear failure - common on the B58's - and slid off the
Side of the runway, fuel/bomb pod and all. Evidently, some
Radiation was detected and expediency forced them to dig a big
Hole in the ground, shove the plane into it, cover it with
Concrete and then dirt. It has been there all these years.
Somewhere during the last few years the long forgotten issue
Cropped up because, as a Reserve base that also has civilian
Contracts and contractors, "toxic waste" was no longer
Allowable on base. The newspaper ran a story about it having
To eventually get dug up. Since there was already a plan to
Refurb Grissom's runway after the plan to move the 434th ARW
Reserve up to Fort Wayne got shot down, the "suggestion" was
That the long-buried Hustler would get dug up and a serious
Decontamination job would be done. Have heard no more about
It.).
Hmmmm, sorry about the diversion there. If someone was using
The old AR16 run then contacting Grissom Weather makes sense.
Grissom has played host to foreign units on and off over several
Years back.

I had them about 1pm local.
They were also on 344.6 with Grissom Metro.
