[MilCom] Monitoring Navy Communications

Hello All,

I am new to this group, and to military monitoring.  I subscribed to this list to try to learn a little more about it.  I am especially interested in Navy communications, and I understand that the ships are now mostly on satellite.  Is it possible to monitor this (satellite) activity, and if so, what are the frequencies involved and equipment needed?
