Frankly, I highly doubt that there's enough manpower to check every car for
scanners, unless they want a 100 mile traffic jam!!!!  Perhaps if you
vehicle has many antennas sprouting from it they might stop you....  I'd
also assume that public affairs misunderstood the question -- OR better yet
DON"T ASK THE QUESTION in the first place!!!    Even at Hanscom AFB last
year (where they had guards/observers posted even in the parking lots) there
wasn't a problem with scanners in automobiles in the parking lot.
Futhermore, at Westover ARB in the previous years of draconian scanner
bands, security police official had NO problem at all with scanners being in
vehicles in parking lots..  The only problem was entering the show area.  I
would assume that there will be a 100% inspection including electronic "pat
downs" at the entrance gates as was done at Hanscom last year.
