I appreciate your comments. However my mission was not to get hits. In=20
fact I stated that earlier in this way too long of a thread. During the=20
heat of the war (which I did very little posting) I was receiving about=20
5000 unique visitors per day. Before the war and now I=92m receiving about=
=20
3000 unique visitors per day. So as you can see I sure didn=92t need to do=
=20
this for hits, in fact hits cost me money, last month over $40 just in=20
bandwidth overrun charges!
As a result I now moved the website to a dedicated web server (meaning=20
www.MilAirComms.com is the ONLY website on the entire server). However=20
the cost of doing so isn=92t cheap. www.MilAirComms.com now costs=20
$150/month to host.
My mission isn=92t to get hits. My mission is this: To help newcomers in=
=20
the hobby. When I was new and trying to get info on the hobby I would ask=
=20
the so-called experts questions. Either my questions went unanswered or I=
=20
would get blasted for asking questions. After talking with some other=20
people who wanted to get stated in MilAir listening I learned that they all=
=20
ran into the same brick wall. So in order to help the new people getting=20
into the hobby I started the website so they had a place to go for freqs=20
and information.
The real factor which lead me to starting www.MilAirComms was an incident=20
with a member of this group. He had listed a frequency for 2Meter=20
repeater which was to rebroadcast shuttle audio. After several launches=20
and no audio from that repeater I asked the question =93is that freq still=
=20
current?=94 Along with the question I had also informed that person of=20
another 2 meter freq which was active in the very same town. Boy oh boy=20
did I get reamed a new a**hole. That person blasted me on every email=20
list and newsgroup telling everyone I said his list was junk. Later I=20
found from other people (both newbies and semi-pros) that they have ran=20
into the same problems with getting accurate information. So that is how=
=20
and why www.MilAirComms.com got started, to help the newcomer when others=20
wouldn=92t=85=85Don=92t get me wrong, there are some old-timers in the hobby=
who=20
are very welling to help and have helped me and I appreciated the time each=
=20
and everyone took to answer my questions and exchange information. However=
=20
there are an equal number who would rather knock down your antenna so they=
=20
remain =93King of the Hill=94.
