Fox Hunt Friday May 27th



Everyone, Mark it on your calendar we will be doing the first KCARPSC
sponsored Fox hunt on Friday May 27th.

We will be on 2 meters and will meet at the Meijers/wendys parking lot at
the east beltline and knapp.   We will have a prize for the winner of this
event.

Cost for this one is free, future dates might be a 2.00 entry to cover the
cost of the prize.

Bring a friend, you do not have to be a member of the ARPSC to play.

Fox Hunt Rules..


I have had questions about rules for the hunt.  This is how all will
proceed, we encourage more experienced hunters to take those along with them
who have no experience or no equipment and to show them the ropes.   If you
are able to take someone along with you please let me know and I will try to
pair people up.  Also please remember to pass this info on to your clubs and
friends.   Everyone is invited to play and no membership to any group is
required.  Just be a ham.

KC ARPSC Foxhunt rules.
General
1. The Foxhunt will begin at 7:00 PM EST. Maximum time for the hunt will be
Two (2) hours.
2. The starting point will be the Knapps Corner Meijer parking lot.
3. Talk-in will be on the 145.110 repeater.
4. All hunters must be present at the starting point at the start of the
hunt.

The Fox
1. Must transmit on ? 146.985 Mhz. Minimum 1 watt ERP. He must identify with
his callsign.
2. Must be heard by more than 50% of the hunters at the starting point.
3. Must identify and transmit for a minimum of 30 seconds once every 5
minutes.
4. Must not change antenna or power level once the foxhunt has begun.
5. Must not change location once the foxhunt has begun.
6. Must hide so that the hunters can drive on a gravel or better roadway,
park their cars, and walk no more than 500 feet to the Fox. Access roads
cease to be such when barred by fences, chains, sawhorses or "NO
TRESSPASSING" signs.
7. Must hide on PUBLIC ACCESS PROPERTY. PUBLIC ACCESS PROPERTY means
property to which the general public has access to at the time of the hunt,
or would not require special permission to access.
8. May not hide where admission is charged (eg., drive-in, pay sporting
event, toll roads, etc.).
9. May not use repeaters, remote base stations, or cross-banding.
10. The Fox is the person operating the hidden transmitter. When asked by a
hunter if (s)he is the Fox, the Fox must answer in the affirmative.
11. The Fox and his crew may not operate other 2 meter transmitters during
his transmissions, which could possibly interfere with the hunters'.
12. Must note the time and callsign of finishers and write the foxhunt
report.
13. Must choose a location to meet for dinner / desert after the hunt is
completed or for people who give up to go and wait.

The Hunters
1. Must check at the starting point, and identify the name or callsign of
their group.
2. May not leave the starting point until released by the Fox.
3. In order to finish, must ask for and receive an affirmative answer from
the Fox.
4. The winning hunter shall be, or may designate, the Fox on the following
hunt.
