The following events are scheduled in the Grand Rapids area September 2004 and beyond,
INCLUDING LABOR DAY WEEKEND. Anyone interested are welcome at these events.

OPERATION C.A.R.E. Coffee Stop is THIS Labor Day Holiday Weekend September 4-6 at the
Rockford Rest Area on SB US131 between M-57 Greenville exit 101 and 10 Mile Rd Rockford exit
97. Sponsored by the Michigan State Police, MARA, and GRARA. Shifts are still in need of
volunteers.

THERE IS NO SEPTEMBER GRARA MEETING due to the first Friday being the beginning of Labor Day
weekend and the GRAHamfest the following weekend.
PLAN ON BING AT THE FOREST HILLS NORTHERN MIDDLE SCHOOL, Friday September 10, about 6PM to
help set up for the hamfest as well as Saturday morning beginning at 6AM. Volunteer signup
sheets will have shifts for ticket sales, concessions, parking, and talk-in. We need to pull
together for this event.
The next meeting of the Grand Rapids Amateur Radio Association (GRARA) is Friday, October 1,
7PM, at the American Red Cross building, 1050 Fuller Ave NE between the Ford I-196

The W8DC ham shack at the Red Cross building is open for use Wednesdays 7:15PM to about 9 or

This Month's VE Amateur Radio license exams is Friday, September 10, 6:30PM, at the Red
Cross Building AND the following day at the hamfest. All Walk-ins.

DAPR, the Downtown Amateur Packet Radio Group of Grand Rapids, meets for breakfast the
Saturday after the first Friday of each month, September 4, at 8AM. New Beginnings
Restaurant, 1455 Michigan St NE. Use the Fuller exit (turn south) off of I-196 then go east
on Michigan. "Talk-in" is on 146.760-(94.8Hz). Anyone interested in digital modes is

The next Transmitter hunt is Saturday September 11, 2PM following the hamfest at the FHN
Middle School. The hidden transmitter will be Sam Nabkey K8SN and Dave Buffington KC8HVT.
We've heard the great stories of Transmitter Hunts in the past, come join in the new great
times. If you don't have a direction finding set up, come out anyway and ride with someone

The season final summer WODJ-FM / Cidadel Broadcasting transmitter site cleanup, our
agreement for hosting the W8LRC 145.27-(94.8Hz) repeater, is Wednesday September 29, 7PM,
Lincoln Lake Ave, 6 Miles north of Lowell just past 3 Mile Rd. Bring whatever yard cleaning
tools you can

West Michigan Traffic Net meets Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday nights at 9pm on
145.27. The purpose of this net is to handle NTS Traffic coming into West Michigan. All are
welcome to check in. We also are an inlet for outgoing traffic as well.
The other net is the informal 6mtr AM net that meets every Sunday from 8-9am. This net
originates in Grand Rapids.
The Michigan DX Association (MDXA) 2 meter net that is held every
Tuesday evening, 9PM, on the 145.270-(94.8Hz) LARC/W8LRC repeater.
