Subject: [MIham] VENUS transit early tomorrow!
Date: Tuesday, June 08, 2004 12:35 PM
We haven't had any "red alerts" for space weather lately, but there is
a great space weather event early tomorrow morning.. the transit of
Venus!
Alas for us in the western half of the U.S, a rare transit of Venus
will occur early tomorrow morning. Here in Houston it ends just as the
sun rises; those in the eastern US may see more of the event if they
get up early.
but not to fear; live webcasts will be available, from several sources:
Exploratorium (giving live images from Athens, Greece):
http://http.earthcache.net/www.exploratorium.edu/venusEC/index.html
10 - 11 pm PDT (11-12 MDT; 12-1 am CDT; 1-2 am EDT)
AND ALSO
4-5 am PDT (6-7 am CDT; 7-8 am EDT)
From SOHO, it will go thru the Corona but not in front of the sun
itself: watch live at
http://soho.nascom.nasa.gov/hotshots/2004_06_08/
the Norwegians will have a live webcast:
