Subject: [Microphones] Older D104

Hello all,

I recently acquired an older D-104 microphone but no
manual/instructions. When installing the battery, I noticed a
2-position slide switch labeled "R" and "E". Can someone tell me what
the R and E stand for?
Also, I know there is a webpage that lists all of the wiring combos for
the mic plug, can someone let me know that address?

Thanks,
Buddy WB4M

R and E stand for "Relay" and "Electronic" switching; having to do with
how the connected rig changes from transmit to receive. Relay switching
closes an isolated pair of wires on transmit. Electronic switching
transfers a connection from one wire to another; generally the transfer
is from a circuit common, or ground, connection. This latter connection
method is common in CB transceivers where the emitters of the exciter
string are lifted from ground to disable the transmitter and the speaker
return is lifted from ground to disable receive. One or the other is
grounded by the microphone switch. This opposite-grounding technique
saves on parts count; no T/R switching relay is needed.
