I'm interested in helping but I don't have any prior experience with
using generators. Just recently got into ham radio for the emergency
communications aspect and trying to learn everything I can about
emergency power, so I don't mind reading the instruction manuals a few
times.

To add to Mike's sales pitch, let me tell you that this is a really fun
job. You get to spend club money, setup and tear down is a breeze, and
*everyone* likes you because they need you. Need time to operate? Not
a problem. Simply show up at a tent and say "I need to fuel the
generators in a half hour so I need to get my time in now". No one
really knows if you're lying or not. If they do challenge you, pull
their plug. (This doesn't work on Andreas because he has batteries.=20
:-)
I'd do it this year but my new business
(http://www.scheduleeverywhere.com) is keeping me from having any free
time right now. What I can tell you from past experience is that the
two Honda 3000W generators that we rented last year sipped a mere 14
gallons of fuel for the entire 24 hours. And that was for both units!=20
I had two 5 gallon gas cans and two 2 gallon cans and had fuel to spare.
If you have any questions about doing this job or need some extra
encouragement to sign up then I'll be happy talk with you.
