Scott and all others,
You are probably right, the manual I got was an advanced copy of the later production items. But, as
Kay N7KH says, it sounds like the door is useless since you still cannot get to the batteries or
jumper anyway. Oh well.
I am going to just cut a hole or slot in the bottom of the case and insert a coaxial power jack with
normally closed contacts and set the jumper for NON rechargeable batteries. That way when I insert
the plug from my charger, it will disable the batteries to the unit and allow a charge from the new
jack. The original jack on top will remain for use as a power adapter source.
I have never had much faith in most built-in chargers, particularly ones that charge NICADS because
they do not apply a proper conditioning.
Thanks to all and 73,
Dick KF4NS

| I saw one like that on eBay, it had a small battery door instead. Sounds
| like it's a newer revision perhaps? The one for sale on eBay was, as stated
| by the seller, only a couple weeks old and he didn't need it.
|
| So perhaps the manual revision beat the model revision. I have seen that on
| a few other products of theirs.
